Smokehouse BBQ Opens in Maplewood

MAPLEWOOD, NJ -  Smokehouse BBQ, owned by Maplewood resident Trevon Woolford, has opened at 1546 Springfield Avenue, at the intersection with Boyden Street, at the former site of T-OP Ice Cream and Fried Chicken.

Smokehouse BBQ features smoked meats: brisket, pork, and chicken, as well as side dishes which include a variety of seasoned fries and homemade mac ‘n cheese.

MAPLEWOOD, NJ - Ani Ramen will open in Maplewood in 2019, stated a Facebook update from Maplewood Mayor Vic DeLuca on Friday. Ani Ramen currently has locations in Montclair (the original location, which opened in 2014) and Jersey City (2017), and plans to open a third location on Springfield Avenue in Summit this fall.

K Kakes Cakery in South Orange Has Officially Closed

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - K Kakes Cakery, which has been closed since July, has closed its doors permanently, stated Bob Zuckerman, Executive Director of the South Orange Village Center Alliance.

While Zuckerman said he has not be in contact with the owners, and did not have information about why the bakery had closed, he did confirm by email, "kitchen equipment from K Kakes was being moved ...
