SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - Buyrite celebrated their grand opening on Saturday with a ribbon cutting, food and drink pairings, and words of welcome from community officials. Buyrite owners Priya and Sanjay Chawla previously had operated A & D Deli & Liquor for twenty years before moving from this small liquor shop to the new Buyrite location, which is a 7,000 square foot beverage emporium located at 400 Valley Street.
The new Buyrite is stocked with wines from around the world, a vast variety of spirits, and traditional and craft beers. In addition to owners and operators Priya and Sanjay Chawla, two of their sons, Kunal and Jay, have recently joined the family business as well.
Joining the Chawla's at the ribbon cutting were family, friends and customers, as well as South Orange Village President Sheena Collum, Trustee Walter Clarke and Bob Zuckerman, Executive Director of the South Orange Village Center Alliance.
"Priya and Sanjay are here to celebrate the Grand Opening of of A & D Liquors/Buyrite," said Collum. "This is a great addition to Valley Street, and a special step in the transformation of the street. We are here to wish them continued success."
Zuckerman echoed Collum's support for Buyrite's new space near Roland Ave., and specifically noted that the store's location is an asset to the the Academy Heights Neighborhood, as are other new stores that have opened down the street like Sadie's, Mod Studio, and The Local Yarn Store.
"We love the community and are very happy to serve it," said Priya Chawla. "So many businesses in town have no parking, but we have these two lots as well as on street parking to make it convenient for our customers."
“I came to the United States 20 years ago, and this is the biggest day of my life," shared Priya Chawla.
