MAPLEWOOD, NJ - Organic honey, homemade granola, and artisanal cheese are just a few of the foods that will be on sale at the annual Indoor Winter Farmers Market on Sunday, Feb. 4.
Slow Food Northern NJ and Maplewood Loves Wellness are sponsors of the Indoor Winter Farmers Market, which will be held at The Woodland (60 Woodland Rd.) from noon to 4 p.m.
Visitors to the indoor market will be able to meet local farmers and food artisans, and "to stock up on the best of local, sustainably produced foods while supporting the growth of school and community vegetable gardens in low-income areas of northern New Jersey," according to a press release from Slow Food Northern NJ.
The indoor farmers market will feature more than 20 local farmers and food makers, selling a wide variety of items including seasonal vegetables, grass-fed beef, pastured pork, lamb and poultry, eggs, cheese, breads, mushrooms, pickles, jams, olive oils, soups, stews and other prepared foods, stated Slow Food Northern NJ.
Vendors include Apple Ridge Farm, Dogwood Farm, The Foraged Feast and Nicola’s Pasta Fresca.
Organizers ask for a suggested donation of $3 at the door to help support Slow Food Northern NJ’s school and community garden fund, which helps to supply fresh, organic vegetables to low-income families in Newark and Jersey City.
A portion of the proceeds will also help fund the activities of Maplewood Loves Wellness.
