SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - Stony's Restaurant has new owners, and will soon become Miti Miti, according to an update from Bob Zuckerman of the South Orange Village Alliance.
Stony's, which has been in operation for almost 10 years under the ownership of Laura and Stony Johnson, was recently sold to South Orange's George Constantinou and Farid Ali, who already own and operate two restaurants in Park Slope, Bogota Latin Bistro and Miti Miti, stated Zuckerman.
"I've been talking with [Constantinou and Ali] for some time about bringing their Brooklyn magic here to South Orange, and with the Johnsons moving to Virginia, the perfect opportunity arose, and there you have it!" said Zuckerman, adding "and here's the best part of all: George and Farid are going to keep what people love about Stony's such as burgers, fries, chicken sandwiches, salads and then they will eventually add new items such as empanadas and tacos, or what they call 'Latin street food.'"
The restaurant will be closed for a few days for minor renovations and for permitting to be put in order, and should re-open again soon, stated Zuckerman.
As for the Johnson's, they're moving to Norfolk, VA, to live on the beach, stated Zuckerman.
Laura Johnson, on behalf of herself and Stony shared their thanks to the South Orange community. "Stony and I have loved living here all these years. We have raised our family here and now they are all grown and happily on their own! We appreciate all of your support at Stony's the last nine years. We will miss South Orange and our dear friends greatly, but we are on to the next chapter!"
