SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - Saturday afternoon, September 7th, in Founders Park a group of community members of all ages came together in Founders Park, one of South Orange's hidden treasures, to work on a painting a mural. "Thanks to the support of Buy Rite of South Orange, South Orange Storage and One River School of Art and Design - Millburn, what started as a conversation about ways to improve the park turned into a successful community event" Cat Fisher said. She and Kristin Stazzone of One River School of Art in Millburn coordinated all the details to make the dream come alive.
Community members of all ages participated in the project, assisted by members of One River School, and can now visit and see something they created proudly displayed in Founders Park. The mural is one of many improvement projects the Founders Park Conservancy has been working on to make this park a great place to bring kids to play or just sit under a tree and have a picnic.
Detail work on the mural will be completed by the teachers at One River School over the next week however, everyone is encouraged to stop by and see the beautiful work the community has done.
Chris Black, President of the Conservency was on hand to answer questions about the Park and gather information from visitors about their use of the park and what improvements they would like to see. For information about Founders Park and the Founders Park Conservancy click here.
