SOUTH ORANGE, NJ – Maplewood Rotary Club was formed and has been an active integral part of our community for the better part of the last 90 years. Over the years the club has undertaken many projects to give back to the community in keeping with its mission of “Service above self”.

They have undertaken a drive to collect donations of socks which will in turn be distributed to homeless shelters.  The time to donate socks is now through October 31st.  Donations can also be made which will be used to purchase new socks. Checks, payable to Maplwood Rotary Club should be mailed to: Maplewood Rotary Club, PO Box 1099, Maplewood, NJ 07040. Donations can also be made through their website at The Rotary Club mentioned that new socks can reduce the risk of infection, prevent frostbite, and foster good hygiene.

Among the various shelters that will receive socks is Isaiah House located in Orange. In addition to the sock donation, the Maplewood Rotary Club plans two missions to assist Isaiah House. During September they will be painting one of the Guest Rooms and then In November they will prepare and serve a Spaghetti Dinner for the guests. While serving   the dinner, the club also plans to distribute pajamas, books and the socks.
