MAPLEWOOD, NJ - Roadwork is scheduled for in and near Maplewood Village on Friday.
The Township of Maplewood put out two news alerts on Thursday, notifying locals about the work which will create road closures and impact jitney service.
Crosswalk striping improvements are planned for Maplewood Avenue in the area of Durand Road that are expected to begin at 8 a.m. and go until 11 a.m. or noon.
Minor disruptions to the traffic flow and parking in the area are expected.
People should also expect road closures on Parker Avenue after 8 a.m.
If a jitney stop is closed, passengers are advised to walk along Parker Avenue toward Valley Street and board at the next stop.
If other jitney stops are impacted, passengers should board at other stops. Here is a list the Township of Maplewood put out of other jitney stops that might be closed and what to do if they are closed:
If Coolidge Road is closed, board at Burroughs Way (three blocks away).
If Burroughs Way is closed, board at Baldwin Avenue (two blocks away).
If Baldwin Road is closed, board at Summit Avenue (two blocks away).
If Summit Road is closed, board at Prospect Street (at Franklin Avenue).
