MAPLEWOOD, NJ – Thursday afternoon, October 3, 2019, the Association of New Jersey Environmental Commission (ANJEC) debuted the Municipal Leader awards, and Maplewood’s Township Committeewoman, Nancy Adams was honored to have been selected the first one.

Adams was recognized for two of her achievements; sponsoring the ordinance that was passed in 2018 banning the use of gas powered leaf blowers between May 15 and September 30 each year. The ordinance was passed to reduce noise and “reduces the impact upon public health, environment and general quality of life.” The second and more recent achievement she was honored for is the leadership role she played in the passing of the ban on plastic bags which became fully in effect on September 1, 2019.

Adams said “I’m humbled to receive the first Municipal Award from ANJEC for my work on the Maplewood Township Committee. Thanks to our Green Team and Environmental Advisory Commission for the the hard work and support!” She mentioned both Tracey Hendel Woods and Walter Clarke both very actively involved in this area.
