Burnett Avenue Pedestrian Safety and Traffic Calming Plan - Public Video Meeting on Thursday, May 14th at 7:30pm

The Township will share our plans to address traffic and pedestrian safety on Burnett Avenue.. Our goal is to start work this year. As a result, we will host a public video meeting on Thursday, May 14th at 7:30pm. Our experts will present visuals of their recommendations and answer questions. This will be an on-line video meeting only with no telephone access.

MVC Agency, Inspection Station Closures Extended

The New Jersey Motor Vehicle Commission announced today that all agency, road testing, and inspections facilities will remain closed until Tuesday, May 26.

 

Note: many necessary customer functions - renewals of driver licenses, non-driver IDs, and registrations – including, first time applications, and some commercial registrations – can be processed online at NJMVC.gov.

Essex County screenings at  Weequahic Park continue

COVID-19 Testing will continue at Weequahic Park. Screenings are for all Essex county residents. Test times are from 9 am to 12 noon. Residents must arrive by car. register at. www.essexcovid.org

The NJ Mental Health Cares team is available at 1-866-202-HELP (4357). The number is staffed with a live mental health specialist, 7 days a week, 8 am - 8 pm.

South Mountain Y Duck Race 2020

The South Mountain YMCA’s Annual Duck Race is going virtual. Please join the Y at 11 a.m. on Memorial Day, Monday May 25 for their interactive “DuckCenter” via South Mountain Y Facebook, Metro You Tube or South Mountain’s Instagram to cheer, waddle at home, and celebrate this race.

 

You can still buy a duck and at the level that’s right for you. This year 25 percent of duck proceeds will go toward  supporting local businesses in Maplewood and South Orange that have supported the Duck Race with sponsorships and race prizes for over 20 years.
