Seasonal Ice Rink Installed in Meadowland Park in South Orange

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - There is a newly installed seasonal ice rink in Meadowland Park, located on the basketball court area adjacent to the Baird, according to an update on the South Orange website.

The rink is open to South Orange residents who have a current Recreation Department Membership I.D. and their guests. The guest fee is $5 per person per day. The rink will be staffed by Recreation Department personnel and I.D. Badges will be checked at the gate.

Skaters using the rink must bring their own ice skates.

The rink will be open Dec. 29 and Dec. 30 from noon to 8 p.m., and Dec. 31 from noon to 5 p.m. 

The rink is closed New Years Day, Jan. 1.

Beginning January 2, when weather and ice conditions permit, rink hours will be as follows:

  • Monday to Friday: 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
  • Saturday: noon to 9 p.m.
  • Sunday: noon to 6 p.m.

South Orange residents with a current Recreation I.D. Badge are admitted to the rink free. I.D. Badge holders may also bring guests and purchase access for their guests by paying $5 at the Baird office.

Hockey will be permitted at the discretion of the rink supervisor depending upon crowd and conditions.
