SPRINGFIELD, NJ - As of Saturday afternoon at 5 p.m. Springfield is showing outage of 2,677 or 25 percent, which is down from over 40 percent in the last two hours. It is also down from 68 percent at the peak. Union County at this point is over 20 percent of JCP&L’s statewide outages. Trucks are visible on Township streets with a caravan spotted on Fieldstone.
Continued repairs at the Waverly substation should cause many to have power restored by Saturday evening. According to a dispatch from the Township, the Fadem Road substation has two clusters that still need crews to be dispatched.
The owner of Alen’s Deli, which has been quite busy today, was all smiles to be back up and operating. He thanked the customers for their patience and stated, “All the food is fresh. As you can see we have been cooking and filling up the display cases. Come on in and warm up!”
Bagel Supreme is restocking and will reopen Sunday at 6 a.m.
Chisholm will remain as a warming station for as long as it is needed with meals served three times a day. Police will maintain additional patrols in the evening hours around neighborhoods without power.
