UNION, NJ – Union police are investigating a “grandchild in distress” scam and seeking help.

According to Union police, a senior citizen from out of state received a phone call from a person claiming to be a lawyer.  The individual told the victim his grandson was in a car accident and had been arrested.  The lawyer informed the victim that his grandson required money for bail.  The victim sent money on two separate occasions to an address in Union.  The packages were intercepted by the woman in the below photos.

Police are asking the public if the person in the photos looks familiar.  Police say she left the area in a tan Nissan Altima. If you think you recognize her, contact Detective Les Gaschler, the lead investigator, at 908-851-5080 or LGaschler@uniontownship.com.
