UNION, NJ – BCB Bank was named Business of the Month at the May 28 Township Committee meeting.
“Every month we recognize local businesses for their excellent service and commitment to the community,” said Committeewoman Suzette Cavadas.
BCB Bank opened its doors in Union on November 28, 2016 at the corner of Morris and Stuyvesant Avenues. “BCB Community Bank has been providing the Township of Union with exceptional financial services, while maintaining their vision of being a community bank,” said Cavadas.
BCB Bank opened its first branch in Bayonne in 2000. Cavadas said the bank is the brainchild of President and CEO Thomas Coughlin, who felt that there was a need for a true community bank. Within two years, the second branch was established and since then, BCB Bank has opened up 29 branches, in 9 counties and two states with no plans on slowing down.
Cavadas said community is vital to BCB Bank. With their Mission Statement to "Pay it forward," they pride themselves in giving back to the community and supporting various programs and organizations throughout town. They proudly support the Union Township Economic Advisory, the Union Township Chamber of Commerce, and the Boys and Girls Club of Union to name a few.
“We are proud to have them in town and look forward to their growth and longevity,” added Cavadas.
“This award symbolizes how a new business can come into the town of Union and the township itself can get behind the new business to make it grow and prosper,” said Coughlin, who attended the presentation with Union Branch Manager Marie Maguire, Michael Lesler, COO, Yolanda Jaco, Head of Branch Administration, and Christine Bridgelal, Hudson County BDO.
Coughlin said the Union BCB Bank just exceeded $80 million in branch deposits. “I know $35 million went back into loans to the community.” We’re proud to be part of your community,” added Coughlin.
