On June 20, Sergio Garvin, a 39-year-old Camden resident, was arrested for shoplifting at 7-Eleven on Valley Street. Garvin was placed under arrest and a search revealed a small amount of marijuana and drug paraphernalia. Garvin was charged with Shoplifting, Possession of CDS and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and released on a Summons.
Armed Robbery Arrest
On June 30 at approximately 2:30 p.m. South Orange Police received a call of a robbery behind the Dominos Pizza building on Academy Street. Taken from the victim was his Apple iPhone and his backpack with personal items inside. While officers were interviewing the victim, he was able to track his cell phone to an address on Academy Street. Officers responded to that residence and located an individual by the name Justin Wilson.
Wilson, a 19-year-old South Orange resident, was ultimately identified by the victim and was placed under arrest. A search warrant was obtained for the residence and as a result South Orange Detectives were able to locate the victim’s backpack, cell phone, and the loaded handgun that was used during the course of the robbery. Also located inside the residence was a second handgun which was also loaded with several rounds. Both handguns were reported stolen, one out of Newark and the second was stolen out of Georgia.
Wilson was charged with Robbery, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose, Receiving Stolen Property and Certain Persons not to Possess a Weapon. Wilson was transported to the Essex County Jail.
