MAPLEWOOD, NJ - A woman and a man were found in the 400 block of Walton Road Saturday morning, in what now appears to be a double homicide according to law enforcement sources. NBC NY reported that the woman found at the scene was an au pair and the man found at the scene was her employer.

Maplewood police received a 911 call about 6 am Saturday morning and responded to a home at the corner of Walton Road and Jefferson Avenue.

According to Essex County Chief Assistant Prosecutor, Thomas Fennelly, it is being investigated as a double homicide involving two people whose identities are being withheld pending notification of next of kin. The cause of death is pending results of the autopsies. Fennelly said a woman was found outside of the home and the male was found inside the home. The woman was transported from the scene to an area hospital where she was later pronounced dead, according to Fennelly.
