SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — Local UPS Store owner George Berkeley has been charged. 

A source familiar with the investigation and wishing to remain anonymous gave the tip to TAPinto SOMA earlier today; the tipster said the charges were in the realm of sexual harassment. 

This was confirmed by South Orange Police Department Chief Kyle Kroll, who declined to name the specific charges.

Kroll forwarded an email to TAPinto SOMA stating that Berkeley “has been charged with several offenses. Further information will be released via our Police Blotter in the immediate future as is standard. Please also note, that this is an ongoing investigation and additional details may be limited in nature.”

Berkeley, a former South Orange resident, currently lives in East Orange.

UPDATED TO ADD: Katherine Carter, Public Information Officer of the Essex County Prosecutor's Office, has confirmed by email the March 27 charges. Carter stated that Berkeley was charged with two counts of harassment against one woman and two counts of 4th degree criminal sexual contact against a second woman.

No information was provided about the two victims.

These are accusations. All defendants are presumed innocent unless and until they enter a guilty plea ot are found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
