SOUTH ORANGE, NJ — South Orange Police Department Detectives have arrested two Newark residents in connection to the armed carjacking in town last week.

On August 11, at about 9:15 a.m., a man on Massel Terrace was approached by a male brandishing a handgun and demanding everything he had, including his Audi. The victim turned over his wallet and keys to the Audi and the suspect fled. A brief police chase ensued, but the suspect evaded the police.

Jeremy Delgado, 19, and a 17-year-old boy were taken into custody early Wednesday morning at their residences, said a statement by the South Orange Police. The statement also said that "Delgado is currently lodged at the Essex County Jail and the juvenile is at the Essex County Youth House.  Both were charged with Carjacking, Unlawful Possession of a Weapon, Possession of a Weapon for Unlawful Purpose and Conspiracy."
