On April 11 at approximately 6:45 p.m. an off duty South Orange Police Officer was inside Morgan’s Liquors and observed two individuals concealing bottles of alcohol. The off duty officer asked the manager to call South Orange PD and other officers responded. Michael Vinas, 37-year-old Bronx, NY resident and Norman Evans Jr. 54-year-old Irvington resident were both arrested and charged with shoplifting. They were issued complaints on summonses and released.
The manager at 7- Eleven on Valley Street reported to police that two individuals had concealed numerous items from his store and walked out. Units were able to locate two individuals in the train station matching the description provided by the witness. Another officer responded to 7-Eleven and observed the video of the two suspects and then positively identified them when he responded to the train station. Marquis Harris, a 33-year-old Irvington resident, and Joseph Foley a 31-year-old Highland Park resident were both arrested for shoplifting. They were issued complaints on summonses and released.
A Garfield Place resident reported unknown suspect(s) stole their vehicle from their driveway sometime during the early morning hours on April 11. The vehicle was recovered the next day in Newark; South Orange Detective Bureau is investigating.
On April 10th at approximately 1:15 p.m. a North Wyoming Avenue resident reported their package stolen from their front door. There is no description of suspect(s) and no video surveillance in the area.
