Theft from Vehicle

A Harding Drive resident reports someone entered his unlocked vehicle during the overnight hours on January 25-26, 2020, and stole several personal items. Detective Bureau is investigating this theft.   >>>>Please remember to lock your car doors and never leave your key-fob inside your vehicle<<<<

On January 26, 2020, at approximately 12 a.m. an individual was captured on video surveillance climbing the fence on the 4th floor of the Third Street parking deck. Detectives were able to identify the suspect as Elliot Taylor, a 25-year-old Newark resident. Detectives made contact with Mr. Taylor at his residence, and he voluntarily responded to South Orange PD where he confessed to the trespassing as well as stealing change from three vehicles parked on the 4th floor. Taylor was summonsed and released. 

Package theft- Arrest

Two residents from Mercer Place reported their packages were stolen from their front steps on January 27, 2020, at approximately 3:15 p.m. One victim was able to provide video of individual approaching their house and stealing the package. Two days later the suspect, Valentino Rogers a 32-year-old Newark resident, was located by an officer on routine patrol in the area of Varsity Road and was ultimately placed under arrest for the two thefts. Rogers would also provide a statement to detectives confessing to the thefts. He was charged and released. 

Package Theft

A Holland Road resident reports that on January 31, 2020, at approximately 4:30 p.m., the female pictured above approached her house and stole a package from the front door.  She was last seen walking north on Holland Road towards Finlay Place.  Anybody that may be able to identify the individual in the attached photo can call Det.
