MAPLEWOOD, NJ - The Maplewood Planning Board met on Tuesday, Jan. 10, to approve amendments to the Maplewood Avenue Post Office redevelopment plan.
The Planning Board unanimously elected previous Maplewood Mayor Jerry Ryan as chair of the board, and also appointed newcomer Edward Bolden to the role of vice chairman.
“I nominate Ed Bolden for the vice chairman position,” said attendee James Nathenson. “It’s time to get new people into leadership roles.”
The amendments to the post office redevelopment included the relocation of dumpsters from the building’s parking garage to an outdoor area, the relocation of bike racks and benches for zoning reasons, and the addition of another parking stall in the external lot.
After the public comment period closed without debate, the new proposals were approved and will warrant “no further discussion” at the February 14 planning board meeting.
“Just because this meeting was short and pleasant doesn’t mean it’ll be this way for my entire term,” joked Ryan during adjournment.
