South Orange Makes Decision About 298 Walton Ave. Tenant

SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - South Orange Village has chosen Run, Jump, Lift to receive a five-year lease at the 298 Walton Ave. property in South Orange. Run, Jump, Lift, which is currently leasing the space at 298 Walton Ave., was chosen from among four groups vying for the space.

According to the South Orange Village website, the Village issued an RFP soliciting proposed re-uses of 298 Walton Ave. and received four proposals on the due date in mid-October from People for Animals (Spay/Neuter Clinic and sheltering of ACO animals), Run, Jump, Lift (Fitness/training center), Wagmore Inn (Dog daycare and boarding) and the YMCA (Youth after school programs, camps, parties, etc.).

A Committee was formed to review the proposals, interview the proposing entities, and develop a recommendation for the full Board of Trustees, according to the South Orange website.

On Dec. 1, the Committee hosted a public forum at SOPAC when each of the four potential tenants gave a 10-15 minute presentation to an audience of about 200 residents, followed by a question and answer and commentary period.

After the public forum, the Committee met and "discussed the relative merits, concerns and pros and cons of each proposal," stated the update on the South Orange website.

Next, the Committee prepared a Memorandum to the full Board of Trustees discussing the proposals and providing a recommendation for the re-use of 298 Walton Ave., which was the selection of Run, Jump, Lift.

According to the South Orange website, the "Board of Trustees unanimously accepted that recommendation and passed a Resolution selecting Run, Jump, Lift, LLC and directing the administration and Village professionals to prepare a redevelopment plan and related documents."

The full recommendation can be found here.
