NEWARK, NJ -- The Columbia boys basketball team built a 15-point lead after three quarters and held on for a 58-51 boys basketball victory over Newark West Side on Tuesday.

Nigel Garcia, a junior guard, scored 19 points and sank 11 free throws for the Cougars (5-3), who built a 21-12 halftime lead and took a 42-27 advantage into the fourth quarter.

Forward Josiah Lawful collected 18 points and 11 rebounds, and freshman point guard Jalen Robinson handed out a team-high seven assists to go with seven points for Columbia. Andrew Rowley came down with 10 rebounds in the victory.
