NEWARK, NJ -- The Columbia boys basketball team built a big lead after three quarters and held off Newark East Side for a 65-56 victory on Friday.

Josiah Lawful scored 17 points for the Cougars (3-3), who built a 17-7 lead after one quarter. Andrew Rowley deposited 14 points for Columbia, which had a 54-35 lead after three quarters.

Chris Darcelin finished with 13 points and Jalen Robinson contributed 11 points to the balanced Cougar attack. East Side is 4-2 after the loss.
