ELIZABETH, NJ -- Heavily favored Elizabeth, the second seed, had a lot of trouble handling 15th-seeded underdog Columbia for one half before pulling away for a 61-31 boys basketball victory over the Cougars in the first round of the Section 2, Group 4 tournament on Tuesday.

Freshman point guard Jalen Robinson finished with 10 points and five assists for Columbia (11-15), which played its best in the opening quarter, taking a 15-12 lead. The Cougars only trailed by one, 21-20, at halftime.

Nigel Garcia had eight points and Chris Darcelin scored six for Columbia. Jayden Pierre and Jordan Price each finished with 16 points for Elizabeth (20-4).
