SOUTH ORANGE, NJ - Expect large volumes of traffic near Seton Hall University today and tomorrow.
There will be a wake and funeral for Michael Sheppard Sr., a legendary baseball coach from Seton Hall University. Sheppard served as the university’s head baseball coach from 1973 to 2003 and had 28 winning seasons and 27 postseason berths with 15 Big East tournament appearances.
The South Orange Police Department issued a news alert about the potential traffic delays on the department's Facebook page.
Here's what the alert says:
"A large scale wake and funeral will take place at Seton Hall University this Friday and Saturday, April 12 and 13.
Friday: Between 1 p.m. and 8 p.m., expect traffic delays due to vehicles entering and exiting the campus. Likewise, an increased number of parked vehicles in the surrounding areas may occur.
Saturday: Funeral procession will depart campus shortly after 12 p.m. Vehicles will exit campus onto Ward Place, turning left onto South Orange Avenue and traveling west until leaving South Orange.
Expect delays along this entire route until the procession leaves town. Plan accordingly and share to help spread the word."
