NEWARK, NJ -- The Columbia High School football team opened its season with a 28-12 victory over Newark Central on the road Saturday afternoon.
Sophomore tailback Stephen Henry rushed for 112 yards on 18 carries and junior quarterback Nick Aaron completed 6 of 8 passes for 154 yards and two touchdowns for the Cougars.
Kai Arrington caught a TD pass covering 78 yards and Hudson Grumieaux had an 18-yard scoring catch for Columbia. Michael Caines caught four passes for 78 yards. Caines and Chance Frost each rushed for a TD.
Fredrick Holdbrook rushed for 43 yards on six carries in the victory. On defense, Holdbrook made two sacks and Frost also sacked the QB once. Henry intercepted a pass for Columbia.
