MAPLEWOOD, NJ -- The Columbia girls basketball team took charge in the second quarter and went on to a 47-37 victory over Verona on Thursday.

Corteney Provilon-Louis and Shana Desir each scored 12 points for the Cougars (9-5), who outscored Verona, 15-6, in the second quarter to take an eight-point halftime lead.

Kaijhe Hall finished with 10 points and Bella Galatt had six points for the Cougars.
