MAPLEWOOD, NJ -- The Columbia girls basketball team built a 16-point lead in the first quarter and went on to a 58-31 victory over Newark Tech on Saturday.

Maia Little scored 17 points for Columbia (5-2), which opened the game on a 17-1 run and led the rest of the way.

Corteney Provilon-Louis finished with eight points for the Cougars, who led by 15 at halftime and then broke the game wide open with a 15-5 showing in the third quarter. Ten different players scored at least two points for Columbia.
