MAPLEWOOD, NJ -- The Columbia girls basketball team fell behind early before staging a strong rally that came up short in a 50-45 loss to Nutley Thursday night.

Maia Little scored 13 points for the Cougars (12-7), who trailed, 17-1, after one quarter before unleashing a 17-4 spurt in the second quarter to trail by just three, 21-18, at halftime.

Corteney Provilon-Louis finished with 10 points and Bella Galatt scored nine for Columbia, which kept the game close throughout the second half before falling just short.
