WEST ORANGE, NJ -- The Columbia-Nutley co-op ice hockey team broke open a scoreless game with two goals in the third period to finish off a 2-0 victory over Verona Wednesday at Codey Arena.

C.J. Hannon scored on a power play with an assist from Leo Carrillo to give Columbia a 1-0 lead. It stayed that way until Verona pulled its goalie and Columbia took advantage of the empty net with Rocco Albanese scoring a goal assisted by both Joe Melillo and Justin Devlin.

Johnny Matrona was stellar in goal in the victory. He faced 48 shots and stopped them all to preserve the shutout.
