MAPLEWOOD, NJ -- Columbia scored seven runs in the first inning and went on to a 10-2 softball victory over West Orange on Wednesday.

Hudson Hassler went 3-for-4 with a double, a triple, three runs scored and one RBI, and Olivia Miller was 3-for-4 with a double, a run scored and two RBIs for Columbia (4-2). Cara Harrington singled twice, scored two runs, and drove in a run for the Cougars.

Pitchers Ellie Mischel and Sydney Waldon combined on a two-hitter for Columbia. Mischel allowed two hits, one earned run, and one walk in five innings. She also struck out a batter. And Waldon struck out five of the six batters she faced in two perfect relief frames.
