NORTH CALDWELL, NJ — The Columbia softball team scored all its runs in the first inning and held on for a 5-4 victory over West Essex on Monday.

Sydney Waldon went 2-for-4 with an RBI and Amelia Sherman rapped a two-run single for the Cougars (5-4), who finished with seven hits.

Waldon pitched a two-hitter over seven innings with 11 strikeouts and two walks. Ellie Martin also had a run-scoring hit for Columbia.
