WEST ORANGE, NJ -- Two members of the Columbia High School wrestling team made their mark in the NJSIAA Region 3 wrestling tournament last weekend.

Cahil Love Jr. and Tyson Carroll each advanced as far as the semifinals in their respective weight classes, with Love finishing third in his division.

Love, seeded fourth at 132 pounds, defeated Ramin B-Razavi of Bloomfield in a 19-4 technical fall at 2:38 of the first round. In the quarterfinals, Love decisioned Giovanni Rivera of Morristown, 13-6. Love was pinned in 3:30 by the top seed, eventual champ Joey Olivieri of Hanover Park in the semifinals. In the wrestleback quarterfinal, Rivera decisioned Brandon Vanzini, 10-4. He then scored a 6-4 decision over Robert Bohr of West Morris in the wrestleback semifinals before completing his action in the region with a 6-5 decision over Rivera in the third-place final.

Carroll, seeded fifth at 182 pounds, pinned Isaiah Augustin of Irvington in 5:04 of the first round. In the quarterfinals, Carroll pinned his next opponent, Charlie Santoro of Hanover Park, in 4:00. Carroll came out on the short end of a 5-2 decision against Nick Olivieri of Delbarton in the semifinals. Carroll the decisioned Max Ruiz of Caldwell, 7-2, in the wrestleback consolation semifinal before losing via tech fall to Zach Andruchowitz in 4:48 in the third-place final.
