SOMERS, N.Y. – A public hearing will be held Dec. 7 on proposed town spending next year of about $13.9 million.

The Somers Town Board last week adopted—with a few small but notable changes—the tax-cap-compliant tentative budget presented earlier this month by Supervisor Rick Morrissey. An increase in total appropriations of more than $330,000 would raise property taxes from $14.57 for each $1,000 of assessed value to $14.61

When Morrissey presented his tentative budget, at the board’s Nov. 2 work session, it contained raises only for the four part-time councilmen and none for the other elected officials. All that changed at the Nov. 9 meeting.
