Tori, a 13-year-old at Somers Middle School, used her summer vacation to paint messages of positivity on the stalls of the bathroom doors. She took it upon herself to contact and arrange everything with the school to help girls boost their self esteem and remember that they are awesome everyday!

The school district was especially proud to see Tori take the initiative.

“I am thankful for students at Somers Middle School like Tori who are standing up as leaders and taking steps to improve our school,” said Jennifer Spirelli, assistant principal at SMS. “Thoughts become words, words become actions, and actions become who we are. Tori did an excellent job with this project. I can’t wait for students to return to school and experience the same feeling I had upon entering the bathrooms.”
