SOMERS, N.Y. – A rash of car larcenies were reported in early May, according to Somers Police Chief Michael Driscoll.

In every instance, the cars were left unlocked and the thief stole change or other small items. No purses, wallets or cellphones were stolen, Driscoll noted.

He said there were about 21 or 22 reported larcenies in Somers early last month. All of the larcenies occurred overnight, he said.

No arrest was made, but, because of the similarities of the larcenies, Driscoll suspects they were all committed by one person.

He warned residents not to leave their cars unlocked, especially when left overnight.
