SOMERS, N.Y. - Lake Lincolndale is hosting its annual Opening Day celebration on Saturday, May 26.
This event is from noon to 7 p.m. with a bonfire at 8 p.m. It’s free and open to the public with a barbecue, music and games.
Lake Lincolndale recently celebrated its 80th birthday and is a cornerstone in shaping the town of Somers, along with Lake Shenorock and Lake Purdys.
What was once just a summer paradise for New Yorkers has become a burgeoning community and a protected beach retreat.
The man-made lake was built in the early 1930s. In the 1950s, members of the Lake Lincolndale Property Owners Association began living there permanently after many improvements were made to the area, including road widening and clubhouse upgrades.
Today, the area features a 20-acre lake with swimming, fishing and boating, and refreshments are available at the Lily Pad cafe.
The clubhouse is available for private parties and gatherings and membership is open to those outside the Lake Lincolndale community.
