SOMERS, N.Y. – The Somers Volunteer Fire Department may have inspired some future firefighters with Saturday’s open house event, which allowed the community to get an inside look at how the department operates. The department provided food, fun and games for kids at the annual event. EMS and fire volunteers also demonstrated rescue operations, such as CPR, a helicopter landing and the Jaws of Life, a tool used to free passengers from mangled vehicles.
