SOMERS, N.Y.-Forty Culture Club and Italian Club students visited the Metropolitan Museum of Art with their chaperones on Monday, Nov. 13.
The students took a guided Italian tour of Roman, Medieval, Renaissance and Post-Renaissance art, including a visit to the special Michelangelo exhibit. Two art history specialists from the museum led Somers students through its galleries focusing on Roman art, and distinguished Italian Medieval and Renaissance paintings.
Students also had the opportunity to view the renowned Michelangelo exhibit as well as a replica of the Sistine Chapel. Selected sketches, painting and sculptures by Michelangelo were gathered from 53 different countries around the world to be exhibited at the museum. Students were encouraged to articulate their observations and impressions of selected works of art.
