SOMERS, N.Y. – It’s going to take more than a little rain to wash out Somers’ patriotism.
Hundreds of proud Somers residents persisted with the town’s annual Memorial Day Parade on Monday morning despite accurate predictions of rainfall.
The remembrance of America’s war dead began with a parade down Route 202 hosted by Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8213. Next, a ceremony took place at Ivandell Cemetery, as veterans and elected officials laid wreaths and saluted the flag, followed by a playing of “taps.”
