SOMERS, N.Y. - You only had to watch the Somers boys soccer team for a few minutes to see the hustle, passion and fire that Lucas Fecci plays with on the field.

It’s a mindset for the whole team.

But Fecci set the tone for the rest of his teammates. His incredible senior season, which featured section and regional titles for the Tuskers, was capped off with the ultimate honor: being named an All-American.

“It is an honor to be an All-American,” said Fecci, who was also named All-State and All-Section. “I wouldn’t have been able to do it without everyone on my team.”

Fecci, who was the focal point of most opposing defenses, finished the 2018 season with 23 goals and 12 assists.

He was also a key player as a sophomore during the Tuskers’ run to a state title in 2016.

“I feel like each year I have been able to improve my game, mostly from being surrounded by so much talent,” Fecci said. “Also, I couldn’t be the player I am today without my coaches and parents pushing me to be the best I can be.”

The senior brings the same intensity to the basketball court, where he is the starting point guard for Somers. The team is off to a 2-0 start.

Fecci, who has yet to make a college decision, said he will miss bonding with his Tusker teammates on and off the soccer pitch.

“I will miss the team dinners and being able to play with my closest friends,” he said.
