BEACON, N.Y. — It appeared Somers' softball team was down and out, trailing Beacon by two runs in the top of the seventh inning with two outs.

The 19th-seeded Tuskers, however, staged a comeback for the ages and rallied back to pull off a 25-23 win over No. 15 Beacon in a Class A outbracket game on Wednesday.

Shortstop Karly Moscarello turned the game-ending double play when she snagged a line drive and fired to third base, catching the runner off the bag to end it.

It was an offensive showcase from the start as Somers held a 17-8 lead in the fourth inning after a Jillian Carlisto bases-clearing double.

Gabby Mazzotta finished 4 for 4 with three doubles and four RBI. Moscarello was 5 for 6 with three RBI and Kelsey Lavin went 4 for 6 with three RBI.

Somers travels to second-seeded Brewster tomorrow for the first round at noon.
