Dear Somers Friends,

I want to take a moment to thank all of you for your support and kindness. I was able to run for a seat on the Board of Education only because of the many folks who supported me in this endeavor. I am immensely grateful to all of you who took the time and made the effort to help me in this process.

On Tuesday, May 16, I spent the whole day outside the polls and met so many wonderful people. I met residents who spent their lives protecting our country and who took so much pride in the voting process. I met so many teachers, many of whom my children had the privilege of being taught by. Each teacher remembered my daughters’ names, which touched me beyond words. I met a number of parents who were thankful that I was running.

I am grateful for the trust you have put in me. I want to assure you that I will take on this role with my head and heart. I know I don’t have all the answers and will not pretend to. I promise to ask questions and seek answers.  I promise to work hard and ensure that all our children have the best possible academic experience. I promise to ensure that our community continues to grow individuals who are ready to become productive, kind, empathetic 21st century citizens. I promise to work with all the board members to achieve these goals while remaining fiscally responsible.

I am proud that our vibrant community had five individuals take the initiate to seek to serve the Somers school district. I am excited to work with the Somers Board of Education to address any and all challenges and I am thankful for this opportunity to serve.

With much gratitude and appreciation,

Trustee-elect MaryRose Joseph
