SOMERS, N.Y.— Somers’ softball team faced a difficult task last week with top-notch league opponents in Lakeland and Brewster on the schedule.

The week began with a 13-7 loss to visiting John Jay-Cross River on May 8, with Kelsey Lavin (3 hits, RBI) and Tori Pagliaro (home run) leading the team offensively.

Brewster blasted host Somers 9-1 the next day in a league game. Jillian Carlisto and Gabby Mazzotta each singled.

In the second contest of a home-and-home series on May 10, host Brewster routed Somers 16-0 with Pagliaro (triple), Lavin (double) and Nikki Fiorino (double) contributing on the offensive end for the Tuskers (5-12).

Somers dropped a doubleheader at Lakeland by scores of 21-0 and 16-1 on May 12.

The Tuskers closed the regular season by hosting Hendrick Hudson and Nanuet in back-to-back games on May 16.
