SOMERS, N.Y.--The Somers Town Board is expected to vote tonight on a proposed spending plan of $13.9 million.

Supervisor Rick Morrissey’s tax cap-compliant tentative budget, representing a $300,000 increase over this year’s, would finance no major new initiatives but would avoid cuts in services and freeze the pay of most elected officials. To meet growing demand in the Parks and Water departments and the town court, the budget adds the equivalent of two full-time employees to the payroll.

The proposed spending plan would raise the property tax rate by pennies, from $14.57 for each $1,000 of assessed value to $14.61.
