YORKTOWN, N.Y. - The Jefferson Valley Mall announced that it would reopen its doors to the public on Monday, July 20.
Though it is not guaranteed all stores will be open—the decision is being left to individual tenants—the new mall hours will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday through Saturday and 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
Mall staff said they've implemented “rigorous disinfectant and cleaning practices" and asks that visitors to practice social distancing, wear masks, not gather in groups, follow all federal, state and local regulations and follow individual stores COVID-19 policies.
Hand sanitizer stations have been placed throughout the mall for public use and high-congestion areas will be disinfected multiple times a day.
“We are inspired by the resilience of our community and look forward to safely welcoming back our guests,” said Alexa O’Rourke, general manager. “We will continue to work with local, state and federal agencies to do all we can in order to contribute to the containment, treatment and prevention of COVID-19.”
Though the mall has been closed since mid-March, the Washington Prime Group and the Yorktown Chamber of Commerce have been supporting first responders with Free Food Fridays every Friday at the mall since the height of the pandemic in April. The Jefferson Valley Mall has also hosted to multiple car graduation parades, free fitness classes in the parking lot, drive-in movie nights put on by the Town of Yorktown, a contest that gave local 2020 seniors a chance to win money, as well as hosting the Feeding Westchester food pantry at 11:30 a.m. every Wednesday throughout the pandemic.
