LINCOLNDALE, N.Y. - The “Wow!” factor begins at Anglebrook Golf Club in Lincolndale within seconds of entering the front gate.
The grounds are landscaped like a national park and the contrast of the lush, green fairways, sculpted white sand bunkers and golden native environmental areas are nothing short of striking.
The Anglebrook experience ends with a “Wow!” factor as well. While the setting in the clubhouse is as equally alluring as the property, the day typically ends with members enjoying a five-star meal, brought to you by the club’s ninth-year Executive Chef Steve Quattrocchi and his food and beverage team.
For the past few years, Anglebrook—a fully private club—has opened its doors for non-member banquets, parties and receptions, so local residents have been able to enjoy the fabulous dining options and luxurious setting. The response has been overwhelmingly positive and the number of events the club has hosted has increased each year.
The elegant and well-appointed main dining room, the more intimate private dining room and the patio terrace overlooking the 18th hole, have proven to be the perfect venue for anyone looking to host a truly unforgettable event.
Of course, none of that would be significant if not for the fine food and service the 22-year-old club offers.
“The golf course and the clubhouse were nationally recognized almost from the minute we opened,” said General Manager Matt Sullivan. “But the food is just as good.”
And if you don’t believe management, you can just ask around.
“Whether it’s an intimate dinner for two, or a party for a group of 75, every bite of everything is mouth-watering delicious,” said Evelyn, a five-plus year member. “The presentation, the vision that goes into each plate, exceptional service and the wine pairing, is as good as any restaurant in Westchester.”
A 1990 graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, Quattrocchi, who grew up right in Somers, has been in the restaurant business since he was 15. An avid golfer, Steve’s unique flair features American Regional cuisine, as well as Asian fusion and traditional Italian. John Frederick, Anglebrook’s sixth-year dining room supervisor, worked with Steve at another property and was hand-selected to enhance the “home away from home” setting the club strives to achieve.
Anglebrook typically hosts a few weddings each year, although the main dining room has a maximum capacity for around 90 people for a formal sit-down dinner. Within a two-minute golf cart ride from the clubhouse, bridal parties enjoy backdrops for photos that could come from a Hollywood production. Ponds, rock walls, flower gardens galore, long wooden bridges over protected native areas, mature trees—and lots of perfectly manicured fairways—cover the club’s immense property, spanning 240 acres.
Said Iris, whose daughter was married here last June: “The food was delicious and the way it was presented was inviting and fun—just as the bride had requested. While it’s obvious the Anglebrook setting is extraordinary, it is truly the caring warmth and thoughtful attention to our needs, from the entire staff, that really made this wedding extra special.”
The golf course is the final creation of the legendary Robert Trent Jones, Sr., and was named the 16th best course in New York State just a year after it opened. The clubhouse was designed by world-renown post-modern architect Robert A.M. Stern, the dean of architecture at Yale University, who has designed some iconic New York City buildings.
he clubhouse overlooks the 18th green and provides spectacular panoramic views of the course from its main and private dining rooms, offering 24,000 square feet of casual elegance.
“Food tastes better when you eat with family and friends,” said Quattrocchi. “It is my goal to make that happen. Here at Anglebrook my approach is to sit with everyone to create the perfect menu based on your needs and wants. Each event is unique, and each menu is as well. I try to cook with the seasons in mind and utilize local farms and sources. I take a lot of pride in my craft. My food is my proof.”
