Sebastian Capital has once again donated the grounds of their urban campus to celebrate Independence Day in Somers. Last year, the event sold out with friends, family and neighbors celebrating together, enjoying the music, food, desserts, rides, ceremonies and fireworks.
All of this was made possible by the work of the Somers Lions, Somers Police Department, Somers Volunteer Fire Department, Somers Chamber of Commerce and the Patty-Cass Foundation. The collaborative effort resulted in a day of celebration and honoring America and the people who serve our country.
Plans are underway to make this year even better. This requires ideas and participation of many groups.
The Somers Lions will continue to lead the Independence Day committee and invites community groups, homeowner associations and corporate partners to help in planning, staffing, and supporting this community event.
This year the event honors veterans of WW2, Korean War and Vietnam War.
