SOMERS, N.Y. - The school district's budget and bond for security improvements was approved by voters on May 21.
The budget passed with a vote of 829 to 280; the bond passed with a vote of 763 ro 339.
The school board race was uncontested in the district; Trustees Joseph Marra and Ifay Chang were re-elected to the school board with 929 and 903 votes. Chadwick Olsen received 919 votes.
The Board of Education asked voters to consider a bond in the amount of $7,566,295 to finance safety and security measures at Somers schools. The district's $93.7 million school budget for 2019-2020 remains under the New York State tax levy cap for the eighth consecutive year and is estimated to increase the tax rate by 2.65 percent.
