O’Keefe Pleads Guilty to Criminally Negligent Homicide

CARMEL, N.Y. - Former Carmel police officer Richard O’Keefe pleaded guilty in Putnam County Court Wednesday, Feb. 22, to criminally negligent homicide, a class E felony. O’Keefe had been involved in a car accident on Nov. 14, 2015, that took the life of Fran Ghelarducci, a 54-year-old mother of three and a teacher's aide at Primrose Elementary School in Somers.

Plea Deal Reached in Vehicular Manslaughter Case

CARMEL, N.Y. - Richard O’Keefe, the retired Carmel police officer who was facing felony vehicular manslaughter charges after a DWI-related fatality, has reached a plea deal with the county district attorney’s office and is now back in jail. Frances Gherlarducci, Somers resident and teaching assistant at Primrose Elementary School, was killed in the November 2015 crash.
